Night Prayer

IMG_9466.JPG

In the night when I’m waiting for the work to be done
When my weary skin is longing for the morning to come
When I’m searching for the rest my body cannot obtain
My soul finds strength in your steady name
I step into your Spirit and I breathe again

You open all my doors and flood through all my broken walls
Still I’m overcome by fear that you won’t here me when I call
Oh, God you sing over the restlessness inside my doubting heart
And Your song fills up the chasms of my broken parts
My soul gathers the glory that your melodies impart

I’m waiting for you child
Come rest inside my open arms
You keep searching for the plans to build a tower far too tall
And when the bricks and skies collapse on top of all your made-up lands
I’ll be standing in the rubble holding your imperfect hands
I’m covering your weariness
I’m making known the nearness
Of all my better plans
